So, the long wait is over and I finally got my results! I was delighted to get a first class honours degree and set about celebrating straight away!
My dissertation was chosen as examplary for future students and was singled out as 'outstanding' by the assessors. My artwork was nominated for the Creative Lancashire Industry Award. I was absolutely delighted by the results. I had been an 'A' grade student all the way through my degree studies - not bad for someone that left school at 16 and had failed their GCE in Art back in the 70s!
I do hope my story will encourage others to 'have another go' at education. Especially if there's something they have always wanted to do, but life got in the way. I am now an Art Tutor, teaching art online for swarthmore education centre, and I'm loving it! I've got exhibitions lined up and artworks underway. My backroom has become my art studio, I feel so much happier and confident about the future now I am expressing the creative side of my nature.
