Welcome to 2020!
The beginning of a whole new decade and the beginning of a new chapter in my learning journey at college. I have now completed the digital technology term and am entering into a new area of study which is called ‘Developing a Fine Art Language’.
As part of this course I am required to document my activities on a blog or website, I have chosen to use this blog for that purpose because I am familiar with how it works and I’ve got a few followers here and I’d like to build on those online friendships. In fact I discovered that I quite enjoy writing a blog!
So, this blog will show a little of what I’m thinking about, planning, doing and then reflecting on in the second term of my second year of study. In particular, it will give a glimpse into the three subjects I am learning about as a student of Fine Art which are:
studio practice (my workspace where I actually make the art)
academic research
professional practice (learning about professionalism and the business side of art)
Hopefully, this blog will be useful in demonstrating a bit of what I’m up to and the thinking behind my Art and development of myself as an artist. I’m hoping the process (of writing in this blog) will help me to learn to communicate who I am as an artist, why I do what I do and how I do what I do.
Ideally, by the end of this blog when I meet a stranger and they ask about my art or a particular piece of work I’ve created I will be able to say something intelligent, honest and understandable to explain myself and the work – because I have a clearer understanding of these matters.
