Well, what a week it’s been and it’s only Wednesday! I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life this week (mostly good) and I’ve been setting up a new exhibition too, my first SOLO exhibition at college.
The exhibition is in the newest gallery within the Art School, the Transit gallery and as my exhibition is all about the planets the name is very appropriate. (In astrology ‘transit’ is the name we give for the movement of the planets).
I have called my exhibition ‘Alignment’ and that refers both to the concept of the planets being in perfect alignment in the sky (a magical time) and also that wonderful feeling we humans sometimes experience when it feels like everything is going our way. Yet funnily enough things were not going my way at all! I had problems with the hooks and attachments on the backs of my artworks, nothing seemed strong enough to keep them in place. I tried Bostik, Superglue and Araldite and still they kept falling down. Eventually, I took them all down and decided to look for something different to hold them.
Preston’s Hobbycraft saved the day for me, it was there I found the perfect solution to my problems! these marvellous little stickers are superstrong and perfect for the back of my ‘planets’ hooray! So I took them back to college, rehung them and am now finally really happy that they are staying in place and are nice and secure. In fact I finally feel in total ‘alignment!’
