In this lesson we learned how to use the layer blending modes and paint brush tools in Photoshop to colour tint a black and white photograph. This was our first example:
Using the blending mode, soft light and paintbrushes I tinted the photograph very subtly.
Then I had a go with one of my own drawings:
I found you can build up the colours layering one over another just like you can with paint.
Then we had a go at changing areas of colour in photographs.
Task Two
Then I had a go with one of my own artworks, a drawing from last year.
Reflections
I can see that this is very useful, in fact I asked to learn how to do this! I like the subtlety of the tinting and being able to change colour, or add colour to an artwork is very useful. At the moment I am a bit clumsy with the tools on Photoshop but I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. Now that I’ve tried a graphics tablet in the digital lessons I might buy one for myself.
