Thursday 6th February was the Private View event for my art exhibition (with Michelle Summerfield and Radka Palmer) ‘The Magic of Colour’ at the Solaris Centre, Blackpool. It was an exciting afternoon and a little bit scary too (!) as it was our first exhibition and we wanted to get everything right. We had put a lot of work into sorting out publicity, business cards, artists profiles, labels for the paintings – all sorts of ‘behind the scenes’ things to try and make the afternoon run as smoothly as possible.
Things event got off to a great start, with eager guests waiting for it to begin. I soon forgot my nerves when I saw some friendly faces as soon as we got there. The afternoon flew by, with guests dropping by looking at the artwork and chatting to us and each other. There was a nice friendly buzz, not too busy, but not too quiet either and it was good to answer questions about the work and the courses at our college.
I was really delighted that so many people had made the effort to come and support our event and we were very grateful to Rick and Barry for taking some photos for us, they both did an excellent job.
The Magic of Colour is on at the Solaris until 28th February, 9-5pm and there’s some parking at the venue, as well as on the streets nearby. There is also a tram stop close to the entrance and good access. The exhibition is free and there’s a dog-friendly cafe on the premises. Everyone is welcome!
